Marriage, career, and diaphragms are all up for debate in Wendy Wasserstein’s play Uncommon Women and Others. No topic is taboo for Wasserstein to examine in this incisive and humorous celebration of women’s evolving roles.
A group of women, college friends reminisce about the days of tea and sherry parties, as they wonder if their predictions that they’ll really be fabulous at 30 will come true. Or will it be 40? Or 50? Each unique and vibrant character has her own struggle, which she hesitates to admit to her friends. Will their divergent paths prevent them from having a happy reunion? Or will they be able to rekindle their old friendships?
